Discover the most beautiful waterfalls near Benidorm
Publication: 16. April 2025
When I think of Benidorm, sunny beaches and lively nightlife immediately come to mind. But on my last trip, I discovered a completely different side of this popular coastal region: stunning waterfalls hidden in the beautiful natural surroundings. Who would’ve thought that just a short drive from the skyscrapers and sandy beaches, you could find crystal-clear pools, cascading water, and lush green landscapes? In this blog post, I’ll take you along on my personal road trip to the most breathtaking waterfalls near Benidorm, and I’ll also explain why having a rental car is an absolute must.
Algar Waterfalls – The Crown Jewel in Callosa d’en Sarrià
My first stop was the famous Fonts de l’Algar, also known as the Algar Waterfalls. Just 15 kilometers from Benidorm, this place is a true slice of paradise. You follow a well-marked path along a clear mountain river, passing a series of waterfalls that tumble over smooth rocks.
Address: Ctra. Callosa d’en Sarrià a Bolulla, s/n, 03510 Callosa d’en Sarrià, Alicante, Spain
Opening hours: Daily from 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM in summer, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM in the off-season
Entry fee: Around €5 for adults

Tip: Go early! It gets crowded quickly, especially during high season.
Polop Waterfall – A Hidden Gem
Lesser-known but absolutely worth a visit is the small waterfall in Polop, just a 20-minute drive from Benidorm. You won’t find huge crowds here — just the soothing sound of flowing water as you wander through the charming old village. The waterfall is located right in the town center and is easy to reach on foot.
Address: Plaza de los Chorros, 03520 Polop, Alicante, Spain
Best time to visit: Morning hours, when the light is beautiful and the atmosphere is still quiet.
Embalse de Guadalest – Nature Meets History
Another must-see on my road trip was the Guadalest Reservoir, around 30 kilometers from Benidorm. While it’s not a classic waterfall, the mountain water feeds into a stunning emerald-green lake nestled between dramatic cliffs. The view from the old Castillo San José is simply breathtaking. The area also has several hiking trails where you’ll discover bubbling streams and hidden springs.
Address: Guadalest, 03517 Alicante, Spain
Museum & Castle opening hours: Daily from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Why Renting a Car Makes All the Difference
I honestly couldn’t have done this waterfall adventure without a rental car. Many of these beautiful spots are located off the main roads and far from public transport routes. With a car, I could travel at my own pace, make spontaneous photo stops, and explore remote areas that aren’t even mentioned in guidebooks.
I booked my rental car in Benidorm with Rentiago, and I was really impressed: they delivered it to my hotel, they offer fair prices and no hidden fees.
My Conclusion
The waterfalls near Benidorm completely blew me away — in the best possible way. They’re the perfect nature escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and offer refreshing adventures for all ages. With a rental car from Rentiago, your day trip becomes a smooth, flexible journey into the heart of Costa Blanca’s hidden gems. So grab your swimsuit, book your car, and hit the road — these waterfalls are waiting to be explored!
