10+1 Tips What to Do in Benidorm When It Rains

Publication: 16. April 2025

Hey there, fellow adventurer! I’m a travel blogger with a love for sunshine, sangria, and the occasional surprise rainstorm. I recently found myself in the beautiful coastal city of Benidorm on a rare grey day — yes, it happens! But before you let a few raindrops dampen your holiday spirit, let me show you why Benidorm still shines even under cloudy skies. Here’s my tried-and-tested guide to making the most out of Benidorm when it rains.

Discover the Charm of Old Town (Without Getting Wet)

Old Town Benidorm is always a treat, even when it’s drizzling. The cobbled streets are lined with covered arcades and cozy little shops selling everything from hand-painted ceramics to quirky souvenirs. The real magic, though, is in Tapas Alley (Calle Santo Domingo). Rain or shine, this place buzzes with energy and flavor. You can hop between snug tapas bars without ever needing an umbrella. My rainy-day go-to? Warm croquetas and a glass of local red wine at La Cava Aragonesa (📍Pl. de la Constitución, 2, 03501 Benidorm, Open daily: 11:00–00:00).

Dive Into Culture at Museo Boca del Calvari

When it rains in Benidorm, it’s the perfect excuse to get a little cultured. The Museo Boca del Calvari is small but mighty. Nestled in the heart of Old Town, it offers rotating exhibitions that range from historical retrospectives to contemporary Spanish art. And here’s the kicker — it’s free! So even if you’re just dodging the rain, you’ll come out smarter and drier. (📍C/ Tomás Ortuño, s/n, 03501 Benidorm, Open Tuesday to Sunday: 10:30–13:30 & 17:00–20:00)

Try Your Luck at Casino Mediterráneo When it Rains in Benidorm

Feeling lucky? A rainy day is a great excuse to glam up and visit the Casino Mediterráneo Benidorm. It’s not over-the-top glitzy, but it has just enough sparkle to make it fun. You’ll find slot machines, poker tables, roulette, and a restaurant that surprisingly delivers on quality. Bonus: there’s a chic bar where you can sip a cocktail while watching the rain drizzle over Avenida del Mediterráneo. (📍Av. del Mediterráneo, 55, 03503 Benidorm, Open daily: 10:00–03:00)

Go Bowling or Play Indoor Mini-Golf Even When it Rains

If you’re traveling with kids—or you’re just a big kid yourself—Benidorm has you covered. Ozone Bowling is my personal favorite. Not only can you bowl a few frames, but there’s also an arcade, snack bar, and billiards. It’s perfect for a fun, dry afternoon. (📍C. Gerona, 18, 03503 Benidorm, Open daily: 12:00–01:00) You can also check out Planet Bowling for a similar vibe. Some larger hotels, like the Melia Benidorm, also offer indoor mini-golf courses open to non-guests for a small fee — just ask at reception.

Pamper Yourself at a Spa When it Rains in Benidorm

Let’s be honest: rain is a perfect excuse to do absolutely nothing — and do it luxuriously. Asia Gardens Hotel & Thai Spa offers day passes to non-guests, where you can soak in heated pools, get a massage, and drift away in a Thai-inspired setting. (📍Rotonda del Fuego, Terra Mítica, 03509 Finestrat, Open daily: 10:00–20:00) Closer to town, the Deloix Aqua Center is another great option with a thermal circuit, sauna, and even hydrotherapy

Enjoy Dinner and a Show at Benidorm Palace

Rainy nights call for glitz, glamour, and maybe a bit of sequins. Benidorm Palace is an iconic venue offering dinner shows filled with music, cabaret, and jaw-dropping dance numbers. It’s way more than a tourist trap — it’s genuinely entertaining, and the meal isn’t bad either! Book in advance to secure a good seat. (📍Av. Dr. Severo Ochoa, 13, 03503 Benidorm, Shows at 20:30, Closed Mondays. Tickets and info)

Shop in Benidorm Until the Rain Stops

If the weather won’t let up, take a short trip to the La Marina Shopping Centre in nearby Finestrat. This is Benidorm’s main mall, complete with major fashion brands, restaurants, and even a cinema. There’s also a rooftop amusement area for kids (just in case the sun peeks through). (📍Av. País Valencià, 2, 03509 Finestrat, Open Mon-Sat: 10:00–22:00. Website)

Learn to Cook Like a Local

Here’s a flavorful way to ride out a rainy day: take a Spanish cooking class. Several local chefs offer sessions where you’ll learn to cook paella, tortilla, or fresh seafood from scratch—plus wine, always wine. Check out Benidorm Cooking Experience for small, hands-on classes in the Old Town. Classes usually run 2-3 hours and include all ingredients and drinks. Booking info

Explore the Indoor Market in Benidorm When it Rains

If you’re after a more local vibe, swing by the Mercado Municipal de Benidorm. This covered market gives you a taste of everyday Spanish life—literally. Wander among stalls selling cured meats, cheeses, olives, and seasonal fruits. You can even grab a quick tapa or two as you explore. (📍Plaza de la Constitución, 1, 03501 Benidorm, Open Mon-Sat: 08:00–14:00)

Embrace the Rain, Café-Style

Sometimes, it’s the simplest pleasures that stick with you. One of my favorite ways to enjoy Benidorm when it rains is to find a cozy café, order a café con leche or churros con chocolate, and just watch the world go by. In Old Town, places like Café París (📍C. Alameda, 2, 03501 Benidorm) offer covered terraces and warm vibes that make even the rain feel romantic.

Or… Escape the Rain Entirely with a Spontaneous Road Trip

Now, here’s a little travel blogger secret: when the rain just won’t quit in Benidorm, I rent a car and chase the sun.Literally. Cities like Alicante, Murcia, or even Almería are just a couple of hours away and often bone dry when Benidorm gets the blues. With Rentiago, it’s easy—book online, pick up your car, and boom: you’re cruising toward blue skies and beach weather with your favorite playlist blasting. It’s like hitting “skip” on the bad weather. Rain? Never heard of her.
