DAY TRIPS & SCENIC DRIVES
Alicante’s location on the southern Costa Blanca makes it an excellent base for short coastal drives and inland routes. Most popular day trips can be reached within 30 to 60 minutes, which allows you to explore several destinations without changing accommodation or relying on fixed public transport schedules.
Coastal routes usually follow the N-332, a scenic road that connects Alicante with towns like Villajoyosa, Altea and Calpe. This route is ideal for relaxed drives with frequent stops by the sea, small beaches and seaside restaurants. During peak season, traffic can be heavier, but the views make it one of the most enjoyable roads in the region.
For faster travel, especially on longer trips, the AP-7 motorway offers a quicker alternative, particularly when heading north towards Benidorm or Valencia. Inland, roads towards Elche and Guadalest take you through palm groves, traditional villages and mountain landscapes, offering a completely different experience from the coastline.
Having a rental car in Alicante gives you full flexibility to combine coastal scenery with inland nature, making it easy to plan half-day trips, full-day excursions or spontaneous stops along the way.
